Founder and CEO

Paramount Defenses was founded by and is led by Sanjay Tandon, formerly, Program Manager for Active Directory Security at Microsoft Corporation.

From the American, British, European, Saudi, Australian and other national governments to the global Fortune 1000, at the very foundation of cyber security of 85% of all organizations worldwide lies Microsoft Active Directory.

In fact, virtually the entire American and international private sector, including most of the world's prominent companies such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, Tesla, Palantir, KKR etc. all operate on Active Directory.

Tandon was Microsoft's first Program Manager for Active Directory Security on the Microsoft's Windows Server Development Team in the early 2000s, and as Microsoft's subject matter expert, he was responsible for AD security.

In this capacity, he oversaw all aspects of Active Directory security, designed new features, authored Microsoft's official security guidance on Active Directory, and presented at industry conferences, such as Microsoft TechEds.

In 2003, he authored Microsoft's official 200+-page whitepaper on Best Practices for Delegating Administrative (Privileged) Access in Active Directory which helped enhance security at thousands of Microsoft's organizational customers.

In 2004, he proposed, conducted and delivered a risk-assessment of Microsoft own global Active Directory deployment, the foundation of Microsoft's security, to the highest offices at Microsoft, substantially enhancing Microsoft's security.

In 2005, Tandon left Microsoft to pursue his passion for cyber security and a desire to help organizations worldwide secure their foundations. During his Microsoft years, he helped enhance the security posture of thousands of organizations.

In 2006, Tandon founded Paramount Defenses to enhance foundational Active Directory security and to help organizations easily attain and maintain least privileged access (LPA) in Microsoft Windows Server environments.

In 2007, he penned one of the world's most important intellectual property works in cyber security, A Method and System for Assessing Access Entitlements in a System, which was awarded a patent by the U.S. PTO in 2013.

Today, his pioneering patent in access assessment is cited by 70+ patents from the world's top cyber security companies including Microsoft, EMC, CyberArk, FireEye, Dell, McAfee, VMWare, Palantir, IBM, Amazon and others.

Over the last two decades, he has successfully led Paramount Defenses from concept to the development and delivery of multiple unique, high-value innovative cyber security products that are deployed across the world today.

Under his disciplined leadership and with laser-focused execution, he has led the company from concept to today being one of the world's top cyber security companies, with international operations and a global customer base.

Tandon is the architect of our unique, innovative, Microsoft-endorsed Gold Finger product. He is also a proficient software developer and has personally written over a quarter million lines of C code across our entire product line.

In 2025, Tandon also led the development and delivery of Active Directory Privilege Escalation Path Identifier, the world's only cyber security solution that can accurately identify privilege escalation paths in Active Directory.

Today, his work in cyber security impacts the foundational security, operational autonomy and organizational privacy of thousands of organizations across over a hundred countries worldwide.

Tandon earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 2001.
