The ability of an organization to be able to operate without being reliant on any external entity is paramount.

The trustworthiness and independent functioning of an organization's Identity and Access services are mission-critical.

At most organizations worldwide, these mission-critical Identity and Access services are delivered by Active Directory.

At such organizations, the primary identities and credentials are in complete and autonomous (independent) control of the organization, and the functioning, availability and security of these two mission-critical services (Identity & Access) are not dependent on any external entity.

In contrast, at organizations wherein their primary identities and credentials are stored, managed or secured in an(y) external (entity's) infrastructure (e.g. the Cloud), the functioning, availability and security of these two mission-critical services (Identity & Access) are always dependent on an external entity, and also inherently exposed to related risks.

In essence, organizations that do not have autonomous control over their primary identities, and over the functioning, availablility and security of these two mission-critical services (Identity & Access), are completely reliant.

Organizations whose primary identities reside in Active Directory are self-reliant and can operate autonomously.
